Pooh Learning Pond
This great toy from Tiger Electronics will keep your little one happy and busy - and learning at the same time. The Pooh Learning Pond teaches numbers, letters, letter sounds, shapes. It has three modes: Find, Identify, and What Comes Next. Also features a small LCD screen and talks in Pooh's and Tigger's voices. 10" x 12". Requires 4 AA batteries
The Pooh Learning Pond is a great toy for toddlers and pre-readers. It differs from some other electronic toys in that it includes letters, numbers, and shapes, and it has a variety of play modes. Plus, there is a view screen where Pooh and Tigger talk to the child and show the letter, number, or shape to find.
For younger children, it has the "identify" mode, where the child presses a button and Pooh or Tigger identify it, either the letter and its sound, or the number and the shape of the button it is on. My two year old daughter loves this mode, as well as the "Find" mode, where Pooh asks her to find letters and Tigger asks her to find numbers or shapes. She really loves having Pooh and Tigger say "That's right!" when she finds the right one. She plays with the learning pond throughout the day, and is learning some of the more complex shapes just from playing (e.g., octagon!!!). Tigger also invites the child to count with him up to different numbers, reinforcing number skills.
The "What Comes Next?" feature makes this toy valuable for a greater age range, too. Older pre-readers will enjoy finding the letter or number that follows the one Pooh or Tigger says.
After looking at the variety of similar electronic alphabet learning toys, I really feel that the Pooh Learning Pond is the best on the market. It has the most versatility, and the broadest age range and skill level appeal I have seen. So many other toys have only one or two play modes, only the alphabet (not numbers and shapes). Plus, the view screen with Pooh and Tigger really appeals to kids. I would definitely recommend the Pooh Learning Pond to any parent of a 2-5 year old.
